MailFiler Tip #4 - Save Emails To Your File System

To save mails to your file system (C: drive , Network folder etc.) you setup a link between an Outlook folder and a file system folder.

To do this go to to your list of Projects / Jobs etc. and create a new Project / Job or whatever your terminology is. This will give you the properties dialog.

Give the project / job a name. Point the Outlook Folder to the correct folder in your mailbox.

Under 'File System Folder' select 'Copy Messages To A File System Folder' and select the correct folder just below this. Also choose options for what format to save the messages in and what to do with the attachments.

If you want to save space in your MailBox / PST file you have MailFiler delete the mails from the Outlook folder once they are successfully copied.

Finally note that you have the option to get the Outlook folder to point to the file system folder - this will mean that when you view the folder in outlook you will automatically get a view of the emails on the file system.

When emails are saved to the file system, MailFiler Pro will build up a HTML index of the mails and a HTML index of all the projects / jobs.
