Common Support Questions And Answers  ...

  PROBLEM   SOLUTION
#0 - MailFiler toolbar not visible in Outlook 2007/Vista   Installing Mailfiler Pro on Vista ultimate + Outlook 2007 SP1. After install the com addin is not loaded. -> need to go into trusted settings, com addins, add addin & select Mailfilerpro.dll

#1 - MailFiler Toolbar has disappeared.   Quit Outlook ; Navigate to the file MailFilerPro.DLL (Normally located under C:\Documents and Settings\<<yourname>>\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns\MailFiler). Do START / RUN. Type 'RegSvr32 ' , then drag & drop MailFilerPro.DLL to directly after 'RegSvr32' and press OK.

If you were never able to see the toolbar then please examine what other add-ins you have installed and see if there is a possible clash with one of them.

If you had been able to see the toolbar previously then please make sure there are no other instances of Outlook running - check this via the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del).

If you are running Outlook 2003 then go into Tools \ Options \ Other \ Advanced Options - Select 'COM Addins'. Verify that MailFiler is in the list and that it is checked (ticked). Also go to Help / About Outlook - Click 'Disabled Items' and check that MailFiler Pro is not disabled.

#2 - Under Outlook 2003 the MailFiler Inbox View does not work anymore.   From Outlook do View / Arrange By / Customize Current View (with the MailFiler Inbox View selected). Then do Customize Current View. In the dialog notice the setting 'Automatically Group..' at the top. Make sure it is NOT checked.
#3 - Cannot use Word Mail under Office XP   Microsoft have acknowledged this problem and the fix will be in future Service Packs of Office XP. The fix is also available from MailFiler here. Save the patch file (.MSP) and then run it (Required Windows Installer 2.0 and you must have installed Office XP SP2)
#4 - Want to remove the reference to www.mailfiler.com in the message.   You need to purchase a license and the set the option in the Tools / Options / MailFiler dialog.
#5 - Copy of a sent mail ends up in your Inbox on OL2000   Happens when you send a mail from a desktop shortcut or another application (e.g. from Word). Problem exists with early versions of OL2000 - you need to apply Service Pack 3 (SP3) to OL2000.
#6 - You get a 'Could not open custom form' with Net Folders and OL2000   This is a known problem with Office 2000. See MS article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=287525 You need to install Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
#7 - Using 'Send To' from Word leaves a copy in the Inbox   This is a problem with the original versions of Outlook 2000. Your should upgrade to Office / Outlook 2000 Service Pack 3. This is not a problem with Outlook 2002.
#8 - MailFiler Toolbar never appeared.   (a) In Outlook goto Tools/Options/Other/Advanced Options. Click COM Addins. If you don't see MailFiler then click Browse and point it to MailFilerPro.DLL (should be off Application Data\Microsoft\Addins\...) or (b) Click Start , Run then type 'RegSvr32 c:\....\MailFilerPro.DLL"
#9 - You Experience Resource & Memory Problems Or Have A Crash In Outlook   You need to have MailFiler Version 1.5.0.6 or later installed. Check your exact version number in Tools / Options / MailFiler. Download MailFiler again if your version is less than 1.5.0.6
#10 - You experience a crash trying to create an Outlook Rule   You need to download the latest version of the MFRules.DLL file and copy it over you existing MFRules.DLL (normally in Application Data\Microsoft\Addins\...)
#11 - MailFiler does not seem to work with all folders.   By default MailFiler will only work on folders 'near' the Inbox i.e. you mailbox or main PST file. If you want to include the full namespace (public folders , other PSTs etc.) you need to set the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MailFiler\Monitor Full Namespace ="1" (or do it via this file)
#12 - You notice a blank mail in your outbox.   Older MailFiler versions used a 'holding' mail for name resolution. Upgrade to 1.5.0.13 or later and it will not be there.
#13 - You have some stability issues with Outlook   Make sure you are on the latest service pack of office (SP) for your version. Use the http://www.microsoft.com/office site for this. You can also apply the latest service pack for the Jet Database engine from here.
#14 - Some non Outlook users get a 'winmail.dat' file when you send attachments.   Email addresses can have a setting "Let Outlook choose the format" (from Right-click, Properties) and invariably, when a message is sent, the format is set to RTF and so the receiver cannot read the attachment. By changing this format to "Plain Text Only" the attachment goes out okay and there are no problems. This problem only seems to affect non-Outlook users and it looks like the default settings in Outlook options do not seem to take effect.
#15 - You get 'Conflict' messages from Exchage Public Folders.   Install MailFiler 3.4.0.1 or Later. Use REGEDIT to go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MailFiler and create a new DWORD value called PR_RESOLVE_METHOD. Set this to 1 or 2 (search web for meaning of PR_RESOLVE_METHOD).
#16 - Reply to Text Mails is blank sometimes.   This is a know problem with early versions of Outlook XP. You should apply Outlook / Office Service Pack 2 or you can download a version of MailFiler that protects against that problem.
#17 - Crash problems in Outlook 2007   Install MailFiler Pro Version 4.0.0.2 or later.
